Wittelsbach Fountain
Yet another fountain - they are a feature of Munich. By now the water has been turned off in many of them and they have been covered up. Itook this image of the Wittelsbach Fountain in Lenbachplatz a couple of weeks.

Fischbrunnen
The Fish Fountain stands outside the entrance to the Rathaus on Marienplatz. Originally constructed in 1866, the fountain had to be rebuilt after being almost totally destroyed during the Second World War. The current structure dates from 1954.The fountain used to host the 'butcher's leap' when young butchers, having finished their apprenticeships, would dive into the fountain. Today, the fountain is the setting for the annual 'purse washing' ceremony. On Ash Wednesday the Mayor dips a sympbolic empty purse into the water ensuring that the city's coffers will be replenished for the following year.
