Lazy Afternoon

The flood plains of the River Isar near Thalkirchen are a popular spot for relaxing. The surface isn't exactly inviting, consisting mostly of stones and gravel, but that doesn't stop musicians, sunbathers, barbequers (if that's a word) and others like this couple.

Much of the river further north of here towards the city centre is currently being redeveloped as part of the Isar plan, a long term project to enhance the river's environment.

The River Isar near Thalkirchen is a gathering place for both swans and people. Hundreds of these beautiful birds congregate there. It's a great place to get pictures of the birds up close since they are always on the look out for food from the many visitors who gather there.

Pussy Cat

This tiger at the Munich zoo was lying in the sun. As I watched it rolled over onto its back, paws in the air. It was still watching me though.

This young polar bear was entertaining itself by sliding around on its back in the enclosure at Munich's zoo in Thalkirchen.
