Trust
This is the only kind of 'barrier' at the entrance to the platform level on the U-Bahn. Tickets are punched in the blue boxes but you can just walk through and take the train. If you are caught there is a 40 Euro fine, but there aren't that many checks. The whole system depends on honesty and seems to work well. This picture was taken at the Böhmerwaldplatz station on U4.27 November 2009
Münchner Freiheit
Münchner Freiheit is one of the older station on the U-Bahn and has recently been undergoing a comprehensive renovation. The old grey concrete has given way to vivid blues and yellows and lots of reflective surfaces.25 November 2009

Marienplatz U
A recent outing of our expat photogrpahy group produced another fifty pictures from the Munich U-Bahn. you have been warned! Mostly we were revisiting stations that have already featured here, but today's image is from a new station. Marienplatz is the city's central square; beneath it lies Marienplatz station where both U-Bahn and S-Bahn trains run. This striking entranceway is on the U-Bahn level.16 November 2009

Neuperlach Süd
Winter arrived in Munich a few days ago with temperatures close to zero, leaden skies and icy snow flurries. Yesterday morning I took advantage of a few hours of relative brightness to take some pictures. I went to the suburb of Neuperlach Süd, at the end of U5.This was my first shot of the day - a speculative grabbed shot while the steps were empty. It turned out to be one of my favourites.
